Not Going Back to College This Fall? Your Next Step Could Look Different.

There’s something about September that feels like a fresh start.

Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer. College campuses fill back up. Students move into dorms. Social media fills with back-to-school photos. And suddenly, it can seem like everyone around you knows exactly what they’re doing next.

But what if going back to college isn’t your next step?

Maybe your friends went off to college, but you knew the traditional four-year path wasn’t for you.

Maybe you started college and discovered it wasn’t the right environment, the right major or the right investment for what you want to do.

Maybe you’ve already been working for a few years and are realizing you want something different.

Or maybe you know you’re creative, interested in media and technology, and ready to learn real-world skills — you just haven’t figured out what direction you want to take yet.

September can be your fresh start, too.

College Isn’t the Only Path Forward

For many people, a traditional college education is absolutely the right choice.

But it isn’t the only choice.

Since 1964, CSB Media Arts Center has offered a different approach: focused, hands-on training designed for people who learn by doing.

That philosophy has been at the heart of CSB for more than 60 years.

Today, the media world is much bigger than radio and television. Content is being created and consumed everywhere: through video, podcasts, social media, streaming platforms, websites and countless other digital channels.

And the skills needed to create it continue to evolve.

That’s why CSB has evolved, too.

What Part of the Media World Interests You?

Maybe you want to be behind a microphone or in front of a camera.

Maybe you love sports and have imagined yourself broadcasting a game.

Maybe you’re the person who is always shooting and editing video.

Maybe filmmaking is what gets your attention.

Maybe you’re fascinated by social media and how businesses and brands build an audience online.

Maybe you’re interested in websites and the technology behind them.

Or maybe you don’t know exactly what you want to do yet, you just know that you want something more creative, practical and hands-on.

At CSB Media Arts Center, students can explore training in areas including broadcast media, filmmaking, social media marketing and web design and development, depending on program and location availability.

Different interests. Different skills. Different career possibilities.

And a very different experience from the traditional college classroom.

What If You Already Tried College?

Changing direction doesn’t mean you’re starting over.

Sometimes figuring out what you don’t want helps you get closer to discovering what you do want.

Maybe you enrolled in college because it seemed like the next logical step after high school, but once you got there, it simply didn’t feel right.

Maybe you finished college but discovered that the career you imagined isn’t what you want anymore.

Or maybe you’ve been in the workforce for years and you’re ready to explore something new.

There is no rule that says you have to stay on the first path you chose.

Learn by Doing

One of the things that has always made CSB different is our approach to learning.

We believe you learn media by doing media.

That means developing practical skills, working on projects and learning from instructors with real-world experience.

It means getting involved rather than simply sitting in a classroom listening to someone talk about the industry.

And because CSB programs are focused on specific areas of training, students can concentrate on developing the skills they came to learn.

Months, Not Years

For someone ready to make a change, time matters.

CSB programs are designed to provide focused career training without requiring another traditional four-year commitment.

Depending on the program, students can develop new skills and complete their training in months, not years.

That can make CSB an option worth exploring for recent high school graduates, college students considering a different direction, adults looking for a career change, or anyone who has been wondering whether there’s another way forward.

Your Friends May Be Going Back to School. You Can Start Building What’s Next.

September has always been associated with going back to school.

But your next step doesn’t have to look like everyone else’s.

It could mean learning a new skill.

Discovering an interest you didn’t know could become a career.

Changing direction.

Or finally pursuing something you’ve been thinking about for years.

College is one path. It doesn’t have to be the only path.

If you’re interested in media, content, technology or the creative world and you’re looking for a more focused, hands-on way to learn; this fall could be the right time to see what CSB is all about.

Could CSB Be Your Next Step?
